About Our College

Our aim is to ensure that every boy and girl in our college receives the very best quality education. We provide a safe and supportive environment in which all our students can learn, develop and achieve.

We are proud of our college. We are proud of our students: their achievements, their successes and their development in their time with us.

Chessington Community College is located in the south of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. The college is directly accessible from Waterloo by train (25 mins) via Wimbledon (12 mins). Chessington South station is located next to the college. Having been completely rebuilt (at a cost of £27 million), our college has a modern theatre, dance studio, sports hall, climbing wall and outdoor sports pitches. We do make full advantage of our superb facilities, not just for the teaching and learning of our curriculum but also for a wide range of extra-curricular indoor and outdoor enrichment activities.

We are a co-educational 11-19 proud comprehensive community school. We believe that top class effective comprehensive schools are best equipped to meet the needs of all their students. Our diversity as a fully comprehensive college is our strength. Chessington students have the benefit of learning and developing in a diverse environment of students of both genders, different abilities, cultures and interests. Our students, of all abilities, are expected to reach their full potential. We believe in developing confident and healthy members of the community. Our extensive community provision teaches our students that learning and wider personal development continue throughout adult life.

Our curriculum is designed to meet the needs of all students including the most academically able and those for whom more practical studies are more appropriate. The curriculum for our Year 7 students is carefully planned to ensure that the students are happy and successful in their transition from primary to secondary school. Our innovative ‘Skill7’ curriculum ensures that Year 7 students have much of their lesson time with a small number of teachers with whom they can develop strong trusting relationships. Our key stage 4 curriculum provides choice and breadth (including a carefully constructed ‘pathway’ for the most academic students to undertake the ‘English Baccalaureate’).

Our students are also fortunate that they are able to stay with us at sixth form. It is important that our students have this continuity as they move from childhood to adulthood. Our Sixth form standards are high and many students progress successfully to higher education (including many of the prestigious ‘Russell Group’ universities).

Daytime tours can be arranged for prospective parents and student should you wish to visit our college. Please ring 020 8974 1156 to make an appointment.
