Loneliness in the city – April 16 – April 27

Bounce Theatre and students from Chessington Community College are delighted to be exhibiting an immersive collaboration at the Saatchi Gallery from April 16-April 27th 2018.

Loneliness in the City features the work of 10 Year 10 drama students. The students together with the support of Bounce Theatre have conceived and built a city through the eyes of the lonely.

The piece, which will be installed by the students into the Education Room on the LG, blends stories, visual art and photography to highlight the hidden stories of citizen’s loneliness that seep into the walls of a city.

The work originated from a commission from The Royal Borough of Kingston, looking at young people’s views on urban living.  The group decided to focus on themes of mental health and well being. “Personally, mental health is really important to me, it affects so many people and with some people there is such a old fashioned attitude of mental heath being kept quiet. Thankfully that’s not the case anymore, people don’t judge you for mental health and it is becoming more common for most people to talk about it which is such a great thing.’ James Murphy Year 10.

Following the exhibit, the group will work with their local primary schools and 165 children and young people will achieve an Arts Award.

The exhibition is free to attend.
