“Learning Science Through Drama”

On Friday, 18th January 2013, Chessington Community College was fortunate to welcome the award winning Y Touring Theatre Company to perform their latest live production. They delivered two outstanding performances to year 10 and year 11 which were greatly appreciated. Students enjoyed the play immensely and said that they had learnt a lot.

The play, titled Stunted Trees and Broken Bridges, focused on the future that science might play in terms of behavioural psychology and the criminal justice system. Stunted Trees and Broken Bridges targets pupils aged 14+ and engages its audiences in an informed debate about the ethical, social and legal issues arising from the development and impact of ‘novel neurotechnologies’. The production also explores the profound questions raised for personality, identity, responsibility and liberty, by progress in neuroscience.
